Workflow details right in the SAP GUI

A small icon right in the sales document shows where the approval stands and who is currently involved. No switching between SAP GUI and Fiori.

The problem

What the SAP GUI does not show

The overall status of the Flexible Workflow is visible in the SAP GUI as well.

What is missing are the details behind it:

Who is responsible right now?
Which workflow steps have already been completed?
What was decided?
Are there comments or earlier runs?

For this information, users have to switch to the corresponding Fiori app. For users who work in VA01, VA02 or VA03 every day, that is unnecessarily cumbersome.

The solution

One click on the status icon

Our small SAP GUI extension brings these workflow details right into the sales document. One click on the status icon shows:

the current processor
the workflow steps
decisions and comments
the workflow history so far

Deliberately kept lean

A small extension, not a new process

No interference

The extension does not change the Flexible Workflow and introduces no additional data store.

Read only

It merely reads the workflow information that already exists and presents it right in the SAP GUI.

Extensible

The solution is currently implemented for credit memo requests. Further sales document types with Flexible Workflow can be added.
